The Garden Party and Sixpence

I read the only The Garden Party

Laura is excited about her mother's annual garden party until she discovers that a man has died close to the family's home.

Never the less Scott died, Jose and Mrs. Sheridan behave as always, and she also said,

"But, my dear child, use your common sense. It's only by accident that we've heard of it. If someone had died there normally - and I can't understand how they keep alive in those tiny little holes - we would still have our party, wouldn't we?"

Laura understand that it was all wrong. Then she suggested them to bring the food which was supposed to be wasted to poor people. But, there were a horrible place for her because to be away from those staring eyes, or to be covered up in anything, one of those women's shawls even.  She wanted to go home early, but she went into the room accidentally where the dead man lies. He had a really peaceful face. Laura regret having come in clothes for the party. She witnessed his death and tried to tell her that she was impressed with her life, but she couldn't say it well.

I have some unknown words on this book, but there are explanations of the words, so I can read with understanding.
